About MONTICELLO GARDENS
GROWING HAPPINESS
At Monticello Gardens we choose to adopt permaculture principles because we believe it is possible to grow food while improving our environment instead of destroying it. Our concern to produce nutritious and tasty food is equally important to us as our concern to protect the ecosystems. How do we do this?

By keeping all wild flowers around our edibles we encourage all pollinators to be with us during all four seasons.
By growing nitrogen fixing plants we feed our soil without having to add external material such as fertilizers. This practice also ensures an even stronger bond with pollinators.
We chop and drop all unwanted weeds and mulch our trees and shrubs to mimic the very natural cycle of soil fertility.
As far as pest control is concerned we believe in growing the widest possible diversity of plant species in order to attract an abundance of insects and birds, reptiles and mammals that all co-habit in our gardens. By doing so we allow the pests and their predators to naturally take control of any over population problems at any given time.
We also believe it is important to grow more than we really need in order to be able to share some of our harvests with nature. Nature works for us day and night and deserves to be paid!
